OUR HISTORY

A Legacy of Authentic Indian Fine Dining

Starting out from the hotel school in Delhi and graduating his culinary education in India and the United States, chef Pramod Sharma settled down in amsterdam in the late 1970s. After working for several years, he realised his dream by opening Mayur in 1981. One of the first Indian restaurants in the Netherlands.

His philosophy was, and still is, simple: to introduce traditional North Indian dishes to his Dutch guests, in a warm atmosphere, as if one were “coming to eat at home”. 40 years later, partly under the leadership of the next generation, his son, Mayur is still the same place: Indian food at a high level, relaxed, in a beautiful setting, where you imagine yourself to be in India.
